We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The Custodian is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This includes routine cleaning and maintenance of restrooms, floors, surfaces, windows, and trash disposal. The role also involves supporting special events with setup, cleanup, and general maintenance tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors in assigned areas
Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces as needed
Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in a sanitary manner
Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
Monitor and report maintenance issues or safety hazards
Assist with setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for meetings and special events
Follow safety procedures and use cleaning supplies and equipment properly
Ensure all assigned areas are maintained to cleanliness and hygiene standards
Basic Qualifications
Ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
High school diploma or equivalent
1–3 years of experience in facilities management, operations, or a related field
Working knowledge of basic building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
Ability to perform routine inspections and identify maintenance needs
Familiarity with safety standards and building codes
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Effective communication skills for interacting with colleagues, vendors, and contractors
Ability to work both independently and under moderate supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field
3+ years of relevant experience in facilities coordination, office space planning, or vendor/contract management
Experience with project planning and scheduling tools or software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, CAFM)
Understanding of contract negotiation and vendor relationship management
Experience with space utilization planning and long-range office space strategy
Knowledge of budgeting and cost-control practices related to facility operations
Familiarity with sustainability practices and energy efficiency in facility management
Certification in facility-related fields (e.g., FMP – Facility Management Professional, OSHA, LEED, HVAC certification)
Demonstrated ability to support construction or remodeling projects from inception to completion
