Salary: $39,924- $52,872 Yearly. This salary does not include an additional 5% premium pay for employees working in King County or an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium.

The Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is looking for a Custodian 2 to play a pivotal role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our Juvenile Rehabilitation residential facilities for young offenders.

The Opportunity:

We need your experience at Echo Glen Children's Center to perform a variety of custodial tasks, housekeeping, and general maintenance functions to maintain the cleanliness and care of our facility buildings. Your experience is critical in enhancing the appearance of our facility, while providing comfort to our residents. Some of what you'll do:

  • Respond to staff requests.
  • Clean various buildings, offices and rooms at the facility which may involve moving furniture.
  • Clean and sanitize showers, restrooms, and toilet facilities.
  • Keep buildings properly supplied with toilet paper, paper towels, soap and other items.
  • Sweep, mop, clean walls, and woodwork.
  • Dust furniture, curtains, and equipment.
  • Empty and clean wastebaskets
  • Polish furniture and metal fixtures.
  • Direct, train and work with residents and staff and coordinate with staff while participating in the Resident Work Program.

Required qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old.

AND

Six months or more of experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, groundskeeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.

AND

  1. The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  2. The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have the following:

  • Ability to follow directions and work with little supervision.
  • Ability to safely drive a golf cart type vehicle up to 15 MPH.
  • Ability to perform physical custodial tasks.
