Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Custodian 2position. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana. It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System. The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

We’re looking for a dedicated Custodian to join our Facilities Services team—a hardworking group committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors. The Custodian plays a vital role in the daily upkeep of campus facilities by performing cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance duties to ensure buildings and surrounding areas are well-maintained and presentable.

Examples of duties

Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

Job Duties:

As a Custodian 2, you will be instrumental in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors, you will:

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms & keep restrooms supplied with soap, paper towels,
  • Empty trash in offices and common areas
  • Mop vinyl floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets
  • Strip and wax vinyl composition tile and terrazzo floors
  • Set up campus activities and events
  • Work overtime for events and activities as needed

Appointment Type: Probational

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Custodian 2

Work Schedule: Work hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday ( Hours may be different in the summer)
