LSU Health New Orleans Division of Property and Facilities is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Custodian 1 or 2.
This is work providing leadership to employees in the Custodian 1 classification while also performing daily housekeeping duties including cleaning restrooms, classrooms, lecture halls, offices, common-use areas, halls and corridors, stairwells, and carpet and tile floors in a professional manner.
This position is for the day shift 4 PM - 12:30 AM, Monday – Friday.

Job Duties:

  • Follows established procedures precisely to clean and maintain restrooms daily.
  • Follows established procedures precisely to clean and maintain classrooms daily.
  • Follows established procedures precisely to clean and maintain offices daily.
  • Follows established procedures precisely to clean and maintain lecture, conference and other large assembly rooms daily.
  • Follows established procedures precisely to clean and maintain laboratory and research spaces (when allowed access).
  • Follows established procedures precisely to clean and maintain hallways, corridors, commons areas, stairways, elevators, and building entrance areas daily.
  • Follows established procedures precisely to perform periodic floor cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Follows established procedures precisely to clean and maintain kitchens daily. Follows established procedures precisely to clean glass windows, doors and display cases daily.
  • Fulfills event set-up requests; b) cleans as needed and removes trash during events; c) cleans after events and resets space if needed.

Position-Specific Details:
This position is part of a Career Progression Group (CPG).
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Custodian 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The employee may be assigned to the emergency team that remains on campus and or evacuates to an off-site location during emergency events.

Compensation: Starting rate of pay for a Custodian 1 is $10 and Custodian 2 is $10.70 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Shift Differential and Pay $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased depending on applicants’ qualifications.
