The Custodial Worker I performs general and special interior cleaning, custodial duties, some exterior cleaning tasks, and minor maintenance of multiple facilities. The successful candidate will have knowledge of cleaning practices and light building maintenance.
General work duties are performed with considerable independence. Work is conducted during the evening, early morning, and/or weekends. The Custodial Worker I is regularly exposed to hazardous chemicals and must follow safety precautions related to moisture, dust, fumes, chemicals, and refuse.

The Urban Renewal Agency and the Salem Housing Authority are separate municipal corporations. The Agency contracts with the City for services and the Authority is led by the Housing Administrator within the Urban Development department.
