Auxiliary Compensation Plan

Pay Grade: 4 $20.00-$28.20

Shift Type: Full-Time

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Executive Director - Operations/Warehouse

EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • To assign and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, classrooms, as well as building entrances, hallways, and exterior walkways and grounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Display dependability and punctuality.
  • Exhibit excellent communication with school personnel and public.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications appropriate and acceptable by the administration of MISD

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in custodial services is preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Supervises the activities of the custodians and temporary employees directly by using both verbal and written instructions in compliance with MISD policies.
  • Ensures the custodial services meets the needs of each campus and department.
  • Direct corrective measures to be taken when necessary to meet campus or department concerns.
  • Enforce rules and policies regarding employee conduct by advising custodial personnel the district rules and policies on employee conduct, issuing verbal warnings and written reprimands for violations.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
  • Remains competent and current by attending training and/or courses required by the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:

  • Reading and comprehending simple instructions both written and oral.
  • Writing simple required reports.

Physical demands/environmental factors:

  • Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing.
  • Frequent heavy lifting and carrying of up to 45-50 lbs.
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
  • Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials.
  • Walking on slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
  • Occasional work on ladders.
  • Working alone.
