Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is building a pipeline of experienced Custodial Manager Sr. leaders interested in future opportunities within higher education facilities management across the East Coast.

This pipeline posting is designed for experienced custodial and environmental services leaders who have managed complex campus environments and large frontline teams within colleges and universities. We are seeking professionals with experience leading custodial operations, driving service excellence, managing financial performance, and building strong client partnerships within higher education facilities environments.

The Custodial Manager Sr. reports to the General Manager or District Manager and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all custodial operations within a higher education campus environment.

This role oversees custodial teams supporting academic buildings, residence halls, athletic facilities, student centers, and campus operations while ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, financial accountability, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership capabilities, experience managing large custodial operations within higher education, and a proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced institutional environments.

Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $110,000 – $130,000 annually
  • Bonus eligibility may apply based on role and location

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of custodial operations while maintaining established quality and service standards
  • Develop and maintain a strong safety culture focused on operational accountability and employee wellbeing
  • Supervise, train, evaluate, and motivate custodial managers, supervisors, and frontline employees
  • Ensure compliance with Aramark standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations
  • Manage staffing plans, labor deployment, scheduling, and workforce development initiatives
  • Analyze operational and financial reports to ensure achievement of performance and budget goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with university leadership and campus stakeholders
  • Support operational forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
  • Ensure consistent use of CMMS systems and operational reporting tools
  • Participate in capital planning discussions, maintenance coordination, and operational improvement initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement focused on cleanliness standards, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, purchasing, and company policies

Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of progressive custodial or environmental services management experience
  • Experience managing custodial operations within higher education environments strongly preferred
  • Experience leading diverse frontline teams in complex operational environments
  • Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and team development skills
  • Experience managing budgets, labor planning, and operational performance metrics
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience using CMMS or operational management systems

Preferred qualifications

  • Higher education custodial or integrated facilities management experience
  • Experience supporting large campus or multi-building operations
  • Experience in contract-managed services environments
  • Profit and loss accountability experience
  • Experience coordinating operational or capital improvement projects
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
