ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Custodial Foreman maintains a high standard of quality cleaning services by supervising and ensuring the cleaning staff cleans and maintains all required cleaning, sanitation, and hazard standards. This position is classified as an Essential Services Employee. Essential Services Employees maintain business operations for UT Health Science Center, support the physical operations and safety of the campus. This role involves performing various operations and services essential to maintaining critical infrastructure and ensuring continuous operations.

  1. Assists the supervisor in maintaining a high quality of cleaning services for the university campus.
  2. Trains and supervises staff to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner, as assigned.
  3. Plans day-to-day work schedules.
  4. Visits with UT staff to ensure areas are cleaned to specifications and maintain good customer relations.
  5. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, customers, and visitors.
  6. Maintains audits of employee work time; audits supplies and equipment.
  7. Observes and reports maintenance problems.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) years of housekeeping experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Valid Driver's License. Candidate must complete HazCom and bloodborne pathogen training; 24 hours of HR128 training or equivalent, with half of the hours involved in supervisory training. (COPY OF LICENSE REQUIRED)

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have the physical ability to perform housekeeping tasks (stand, stoop, kneel, and walk for prolonged periods and to lift up to 30 pounds).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use housekeeping equipment.
  • Ability to follow through with assignments with little supervision.
  • Ability to train and delegate assignments to others.
  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
