
The Custodial Floor Technicianmaintainsthe standards of cleanlinessin accordance withoperating procedures and adheres to all other University of Richmond policies and guidelines. The Custodial Floor Technician also upholds the Facilities Department’s mission which is to create andmaintainan outstanding learning environment through constant attention to our community’s needs and thoughtful care of beautiful campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advocates safety for everyone on campus byidentifying,reportingand addressing when appropriate
Interacts daily with diverse staff,studentsand faculty by providing a welcoming and positive atmosphere
Preserves the heritage and unique infrastructure of the University by exceeding industry cleanliness standards
Cleans assigned areas as directed and follows operating procedures
Responsible for the care and upkeep of resources provided to them by the University
Operatesvarious typesof equipment used for floor care maintenance such as automatic scrubbers, wet/dry vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishers, etc.
Performs various tasks including but not limited to mopping, burnishing, stripping, waxing, refinishing,scrubbingand cleaning different floor types.
Responds andassistswith any custodial related requests as directed
WORKING HOURS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Must be able to lift,pushand pull up to 50 pounds
Must be able to properlyoperatefloor care equipment
Must be able to stand forlong periodsof time, goupand down stairs and walk forlong periods
Must be able to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions including heat,rainand snow
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a High School degree or educational equivalent preferred
One year or more of experience in custodial operations or a related field preferred
Professional experience in floor care preferred
Ability to effectively communicate with listed contacts above
Preferred:possessa valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing
WORK HOURS:
Full-time, non-exempt position
Hoursfor day shiftare Monday-Friday, 7:00a.m.-3:30p.m.; 8 hrs./day; 40 hrs./week
Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and evenings
All Facilities employees aredesignatedas essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis and are subject to planned overtime work as required by their immediate supervisor.
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 2 ($16.01 to $19.21 per hour)
