The Opportunity

TVO is looking for a Bilingual (French/English) Secondary Curriculum Specialist who is qualified across a variety of subjects.

The Bilingual (French/English) Secondary Curriculum Specialist will apply a proven understanding of transferable skills, deep knowledge of curriculum expectations for deep learning and best practices in student-centered online learning to guide and inform the creation and review of French Language online learning courses for TVO. Your work will entail meeting the provincial standard for curriculum expectations in a variety of subjects, through the development, creation, and review of learning activities in online formats.

How you will make an impact

  • Provide educational expertise in designing, developing, and implementing educational content and assessment opportunities
  • Collaborate with staff, teams, and external service providers to build out French language course content requirements, review courses and course components as they are iterated, and assist with user experience testing
  • Collaborate with teacher writers to align course pedagogy with active learning and to plan for French language course interactivity
  • Work with a cross-functional team to inform the creation of engaging, interactive, rigorous and relevant French language course content that is rooted in cutting edge pedagogy
  • Present engaging, interactive, rigorous and relevant French language courses that support learners of diverse backgrounds and ages
  • Be accountable for French language course quality to contribute to rates of course completion and student success and ensure that the final product is error-free and reflects the excellence expected in Ontario’s educational landscape
  • Mentor, coach and build staff capacity to build cutting edge pedagogy into course
  • Review, provide feedback on, and in certain cases co-author French language course content and related
    documentation, in keeping with TVO's quality and time requirements
  • Build team capacity through pedagogical leadership to serve a diverse learner population
  • Inform and review the creation of French language course content and digital learning activities

 As required, performs the following tasks:

  • Performs other directly related duties.
  • Communicate progress and opportunities throughout the life of a project

What you will bring to TVO

  • Bachelor of Education, intermediate/senior with additional education or training in a related field (Master of Education an asset)
  • Bilingual in French/English
  • Must be OCT certified with 5+ years of classroom experience
  • Proven ability and experience designing appropriate, accessible, and engaging online educational content for online learning environments
  • Ability to develop online learning modules
  • Experience implementing Ministry of Education policy and program requirements, e.g. Transferable Skills, Growing Success, and Achieving Excellence
  • Understanding of how to build effective and authentic assessment for learning activities
  • Experience with projects where digital assets were created
  • Strong time management, analytical and interpersonal skills required, along with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent grammar, verbal and written communication skills required, including experience in presenting to all levels of leadership
