Primary Purpose:
The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist (CIS) leads the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of CTE curriculum, instructional resources, assessments, and implementation supports aligned to Uplift's Scope and Sequence, Programs of Study, Industry-Based Certifications, industry standards, and IB Program Standards and Practices. CIS applies specialized curriculum and instructional expertise to evaluate program implementation, analyze student and program outcomes, identify instructional needs, and recommend strategies to strengthen curriculum quality, instructional effectiveness, and student achievement. The CIS partners with campus and network leaders to provide professional learning, coaching, and strategic guidance supporting consistent and effective implementation of CTE programming.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop, revise, evaluate and guide implementation of CTE programs, through:
- unit plans and instructional resources aligned to Programs of Study
- Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs)
- IB Program Standards and Practices.
- Collaborate with campus leaders, teachers, and curriculum teams to ensure curriculum is vertically aligned, rigorous, and responsive to workforce and postsecondary expectations.
- Monitor curriculum implementation through classroom observations, instructional walkthroughs, and coaching cycles, providing actionable feedback to school leaders and teachers.
- Gather and incorporate feedback from educators and stakeholders to continuously improve curriculum quality and effectiveness.
- Provide content-specific professional development, coaching, and technical assistance to campus leaders and teachers to strengthen instructional planning, curriculum implementation, and assessment practices.
- Support campus leaders, teacher leads, and IB coordinators in designing and facilitating professional learning aligned to CTE pathways, instructional excellence, and student achievement.
- Promote research-based instructional practices that support student engagement, achievement, and certification attainment.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative student performance data, including assessment, pathway, and certification outcomes, to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with campus leaders to develop targeted supports for teachers and students based on data findings.
- Monitor student progress toward pathway completion, Industry-Based Certification attainment, and CCMR indicators.
- Identify implementation challenges and recommend strategies to improve instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.
- Support the implementation of district-approved Career Pathways and Programs of Study across identified secondary schools.
- Coordinate with campus staff to ensure alignment between coursework, work-based learning experiences, and Industry-Based Certifications.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with industry and community organizations to enhance curriculum relevance, certification preparation, and work-based learning opportunities.
- Support Industry-Based Certification preparation, testing coordination, and attainment efforts.
- Collaborate with district departments and campus leaders to support implementation and monitoring of Teacher Incentive Allotment measures and assessments.
- Analyze and document teacher and student performance data related to TIA goals and provide findings to appropriate campus and network leaders. Maintain knowledge of Texas Education Agency guidance related to TIA implementation.
- Maintain accurate records related to pathway implementation, certification outcomes, and program performance.
- Support compliance with PEIMS, Perkins grant requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Communicate regularly with campus and district leaders regarding program implementation, progress, and support needs.

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B.S.) from four-year college or university required. Master's degree preferred but not required. Experience with curriculum writing and inquiry-based instruction. CTE experience required. International Baccalaureate experience a plus.
Desired Experiences
- Minimum three years of classroom teaching experience
- Formal school leadership experience (e.g., Assistant Principal, Dean of Instruction) is preferred
- Working knowledge of school to industry pathways
- Prior Workforce/industry experience or ability to connect to external partners is preferred
- Leadership experience providing teachers and leaders with content specific professional development is highly desirable
- Demonstrated and measurable student achievement in the content area on state, nationally norm- referenced tests, or college readiness exams (IBC, ACT, SAT, IB, AP, etc.)
- Ability to design high-quality unit and lesson plans and assessments aligned to an objective, as well as aligned to the Program of Study to prepare students for IBC assessments.
- Understanding of IB instructional and planning practices

- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze and apply common sense to understand and to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, students, and parents required.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be competent in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and use computer software as necessary. Ability to use basic office equipment.

Starting Salary: $72,500
