Job Description

Cassia, a nonprofit, senior living organization, has a rare opportunity for a Culinary Float to join our team and float between 4 different cities with possible travel to other areas based on needs. You will be floating between Buffalo MN, Dassel MN, Maple Plain MN, and Plymouth MN. This is a great opportunity to continue growing your career while sharing your expertise at multiple locations.

As a Culinary Float, you will p ro vide a full-s cope, h and s-on coo king p repa ra tion and p roduc tion of high-quality cu lina ry d ish es to our res iden ts and gue sts in a time ly manne r You will bring your expertise to our 5 locations and help ensure that culinary standards are maintained.

Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time, benefits eligible position working a varying schedule including every weekend.

Wage Range: $33 - $35 /hour depending on experience

Lake Ridge Care Center: 310 Lake Blvd S, Buffalo, MN 55313
Haven Homes: 4848 Gateway Blvd, Maple Plain, MN 55359
Lakeside Generations: 439 William Avenue East, Dassel MN 55325
Cornerstone: 3750 Lawndale Ln N, Plymouth MN, 55446

Culinary Float Responsibilities:

  • Flo ats b etwe en MN Cassia Co mmun ities filling in for open chef and culinary po sition s; s hifts and s ched ule will va ry week -to-week and may requ ire la st minu te chan ges ba sed on eme rgency culinary needs

Prepare & Serve Meals

  • Pr ep ares rec ipes utilizing app ro priate in gre die nts to e nsu re a fine dining exp erien ce for res iden ts and gue sts
  • Re spon sible for adh ering to food q ua lity, ap pea ran ce, and p res entation s tand ards at a ll times
  • M eets organ iza tion al and regu la to ry ex pec ta tions, inc lud ing s an itation, food p rep ara tion, menu s, nu trition, and d ocu men ta tion

Support Team Members

  • Pa rticip ates d ire ctly in da ily kitchen op era tio ns in mu ltiple co mmun ities coo kin g, s erving and clean ing under the d ire ction of the Direc tor of Cu lin ary Se rvices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Maintain Food Safety & Sanitation Standards

  • St ric tly adh eres to sa fety a nd s anitation gu id elines
  • Kno wled ge of sp ecial d ie ts p ro vided and se rved c orrec tly per o ur Po licy and Proc edu re
  • Se rves as the su bje ct ma tter exp ert for e me rgency ope ra ting p roce du res and Sa fe ty Da ta S hee ts (S DS) for the kitchen and din ing a re as

Culinary Float Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of commercial cooking experience in a restaurant/ senior living or equivalent cooking experience required!
  • Certificate from an accredited culinary arts school preferred.
  • Valid Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Certificate or ability to pass course once employed.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with residents and staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
