POSITION: Pharmacy Technician, (2) positions
SALARY: $28.32/hr to $34.50/hr per hour DOE
REPORTS TO: Pharmacy Director
LOCATION: Omak Health Center, Omak, WA
SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and assisting the pharmacist in providing safe, accurate, timely, and patient-centered medication services. Working under the direction and supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the incumbent assists with prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, patient assistance, record maintenance, and other pharmacy functions within the technician's scope of practice and applicable requirements. The position works closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, patients, and other team members to promote continuity of care and quality pharmacy services in a rural healthcare setting. This position requires a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented professional who demonstrates a high degree of accuracy, maintains confidentiality, remains focused while managing competing priorities, and consistently communicates with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician certification in good standing is required.
- HIPAA and Privacy training within 90 days of employment and as required throughout employment.
- Knowledge of pharmacy technician practices, prescription processing, medication preparation, pharmacy terminology, inventory procedures, and pharmacy workflow.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal, CTHCA, pharmacy, patient privacy, controlled substance, and medication safety requirements applicable to assigned responsibilities.
- Knowledge of medication names, dosage forms, strengths, routes of administration, storage requirements, and common pharmacy abbreviations sufficient to perform assigned technician duties accurately.
- Ability to accurately receive, interpret, enter, process, prepare, package, label, and document prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Ability to recognize discrepancies, unusual prescriptions, potential medication-related concerns, or situations outside the technician's scope and promptly refer them to the pharmacist.
- Ability to provide professional, respectful, and culturally responsive customer service to patients and families in a rural healthcare setting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling prescriptions, medications, patient information, inventory, records, and financial transactions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism, discretion, fairness, consistency, and sound judgment when handling sensitive patient and organizational information.
- Ability to work effectively with pharmacists, providers, nurses, dental staff, medical assistants, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate pharmacy information clearly and professionally.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures while recognizing matters requiring pharmacist direction, review, or approval.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to remain focused, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and follow tasks through to completion.
- Demonstrated dependability, accuracy, accountability, and commitment to patient safety and quality service.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic health records, Microsoft Office applications, automated pharmacy equipment, and other technology used in pharmacy operations, or ability to learn such systems.
- Ability to safely operate pharmacy equipment and perform repetitive tasks associated with medication preparation, stocking, inventory, and prescription processing.
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy, patient confidentiality, and professional conduct.
- Ability to communicate professionally in written, verbal, and non-verbal formats while portraying a friendly tone, word choice, and body language.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
