Applicants must hold (or be eligible to obtain) a CTE teaching certificate with the appropriate 3-years of full-time occupational experience-based endorsements:

  • V078000 (preferred) College program and BA Degree plus 2000 Occupational Experience other than teaching. Must also apply for the Residency Teacher certificate or apply to add the endorsement to your teacher certificate and take and pass the basic skills test and the content knowledge test and obtain the Residency Teacher certificate or the endorsement before the Initial CTE certificate can be issued.

OR

Must have the Vcodes to teach the following CIP courses (must have Vcode alignment for each course):

  • 520801 Financial Literacy (V520300, Must complete an approved CTE Plan 2 Business & Industry Route teacher preparation program. Verification of 6,000 hours of occupational experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, AND work in accounting operations of a business.)
    520301 Accounting (V520300, Must complete an approved CTE Plan 2 Business & Industry Route teacher preparation program. Verification of 6,000 hours of occupational experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, AND work in accounting operations of a business.)
    220001 Business Law (V520403, Must complete an approved CTE Plan 2 Business & Industry Route teacher preparation program. Verification of 6,000 hours of occupational experience as a lawyer, paralegal, law clerk, OR legal secretary.)
    091001 Yearbook I, II (V091001, Must complete an approved CTE Plan 2 Business & Industry Route teacher preparation program. Verification of 6,000 hours of occupational experience in publishing, which may include traditional print media (newspaper, magazine, or book publishing) and/or electronic publications such as digital magazines, online newspapers, e-books, web-based content management, social media publishing platforms, podcasts, digital newsletters, multimedia storytelling, or content creation for educational technology platforms.)


Must be willing to advise a CTSO organization, attend advisory meetings, and submit all required CTE documentation.


Additional Requirements

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Pass Criminal Background Fingerprinting with WSP and FBI
  • Successfully complete OSPI required training

Proof of Qualification

  • Candidates must hold or be able to obtain a teaching certificate with OSPI, including the appropriate endorsement.
