WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is eligible for hybrid telework workweek.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides support to schools and CTE staff with dissemination of essential standards in the form of blueprints for courses, Course User Guides, and other district approved resources. Provides instructional coaching and research-based strategies to teach essential standards. Supports CTE assessment program. Documents and/or verifies accuracy of student achievement and academic growth. Ensures state assessment and credential fidelity and provides accountability data to CTE Director or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Considerable knowledge of research-based instructional improvement practices and issues in CTE;
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of the use of the NC Teacher Evaluation instrument and processes to improve instruction;
  • Considerable knowledge of best practices for working with new/lateral entry teachers;
  • Considerable knowledge of strategies to assist with the implementation of standards in core content areas (Mathematics, English, Science) into the CTE curriculum;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and team building skills;
  • Demonstrated effective thinking and problems-solving skills;
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and present student data; ability to assist teachers in analyzing data to drive instruction;
  • Ability to assist CTE teachers in the integration of literacy and numeracy into the CTE curriculum; integration of instructional technologies to improve instruction;
  • Ability to plan and implement individual and group professional development for teachers and other CTE staff members;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, and the public.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Five years within the past eight years as a classroom teacher in a CTE program area; OR
  • Experience in a Professional support position in an educational setting, including Career Development Coordinator (CDC), Special Populations Coordinator (SPC), Curriculum Specialist; or Instructional Technology Specialist.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator's license in the area of Instructional Management Coordinator;
  • Current continuing professional teaching license in any CTE area, Curriculum Development, Curriculum Instructional Specialist, Instructional Technology Specialist, or School Administrator.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in developing and implementing/delivering professional learning for topics such as curriculum development, data analysis, literacy;
  • Experience working with adult learners and understanding of adult learning theory;
  • School level leadership;
  • Proficient use of online tools for collaboration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Curriculum Management
  • Collaborates on promoting CTE programs (courses and pathways).
  • Supports teachers in locating CTE Curriculum resources and guides.
  • Understands and supports teachers in accessing and offering industry recognized credentials to students.
  • Assists teachers in developing instructional strategies.
  • Supports differentiated instructional strategies for multiple student groups in CTE classes.
  • Instructional Support and Coaching
  • Collaborates with school administration to develop strategies for improving CTE performance at school.
  • Analyzes and shares CTE program data with school staff and other stakeholders.
  • Provides instructional support and coaching to CTE teachers within the school.
  • Ongoing Professional Development
  • Provides training for non-technical areas (classroom management, pedagogy);
  • Provides training for assessments, credentials, and Performance Based Measure (PBM);
  • Collaborates on plans to support teachers within the Instruction, Curriculum, Environment, Learner (ICEL) framework;
  • Collaborates with Special Populations Coordinator (SPC) for support, strategies, and coaching.
  • Accountability
  • Facilitates CTE assessment processes;
  • Assists in completion of Concentrator Follow Up Surveys;
  • Compiles, distributes, and assists in interpretation of Proof of Learning (POL) data;
  • Assists in evaluation of PBM data for mastery;
  • Facilitates Data Dive Protocols.
  • Laws & Policies
  • Supports diversity in CTE programs;
  • Follows the NCDPI Testing Code of Ethics;
  • Proctors credential assessments, when required/requested.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    This position operates in an office and childcare setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff of external agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. This position requires driving automotive equipment.
