
CTC Clerk/Scheduler - Full Time
Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
Under the direction of the department Leader(s), the CTC Clerk/Scheduler receives and screens telephone calls, maintains accurate patient and facility schedules, schedules patient referrals, operates paging system, and directs communications during emergency situations.
"Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have recent experience as a scheduler in a health care setting. Must have a basic understanding of Medical Terminology. Ability to multi-task, handle competing deadlines.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Bilingual preferred.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be knowledgeable of office machines and computer data entry. Can type accurately at a rate of at least 40 words a minute."
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be a high school graduate or equivalent. An individual should be a Graduate of a formal Nurse Aide class; or have successfully completed the Skills Lab and fundamentals of bedside care portion of their L.V.N. or R.N. program; or have successfully completed an E.M.T. or Medical Office Assistant Program; or have attended and successfully completed SVMC's approved Unit Clerk Program. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1 * Acts as Liaison between guests, visitors, and business associates to the Cancer Treatment Center. Advising and providing guidance ion how to comply with hospital health and safety regulations.
2 * Receives and screens telephone calls and connects caller to appropriate party.
3 * Responsible for incoming calls, telephone switchboard, central paging system and beeper system.
4 * Is knowledgeable with the Cancer Treatment Center's scheduling software and accurately schedules patient appointments.
5 Documentation reflects compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures. Monitors patient appointment compliance and documents accordingly.
6 Inventories and purchases office supplies and special request products and ensures an adequate quantity is kept on hand.
7 Assists with Tumor Board.
8 Assists with coordination and acquisition of authorizations.
9 Assists with patient registration.
10 Coordinates patient referrals for imaging, surgery, second opinions and other care.
11 Works well with others by maintaining supportive and cooperative relationships with all levels of staff including patients, caregivers and staff. Exhibits strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively manage through conflict resolution as needed.
12 Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time
