Organization:

ABSMC-Summit CampusCoordinates and organizes day to day computed tomography (CT) operations, including work assignments of CT technologists, diagnostic imaging aides, and students. Expertly performs routine and specialized radiology procedures of high complexity to produce quality images to physicians and other health care providers for the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of injury or disease. Implements and updates policies, procedures and protocols to streamline workflow, improve efficiency, and strengthen radiation protection/safety measures. Ensures the timely delivery of accurate imaging services and oversees the efficient maintenance and operation of all radiological equipment. Serves as the liaison between Diagnostic Imaging and staff, physicians, patients, family and other hospital staff. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT) SERVICES

  • Ensures the completion of routine and priority (emergency and triage) imaging tasks within established departmental time frames, including stepping in to perform computerized tomography exams as needed.
  • Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.
  • Coordinates the day to day overall operation of the department; assigns work to other CT technologists as needed and organizes workflow.
  • Prepares for and assists physicians in a variety of CT imaging and/or guidance during invasive procedures.
  • Explains and educates the patient on the procedure, medications or contrast media, and associated biological effects in a clear and professional manner to alleviate fear and anxiety.
  • Mentors and fosters a constructive environment that helps students and new technologists build confidence in their skills, knowledge and abilities.


CLERICAL

  • Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones; updating patient appointments; retrieving, entering, revising patient electronic health records (EHR); or updating the laboratory information system (LIS) and radiology information systems (RIS).
  • Prepares and completes accurate documentation related to patient, procedures (includes screening and written consent forms), and exam charges.
  • Inventories and orders accessories and supplies periodically to maintain established stock levels.


SAFETY

  • Implements protection devices and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure (as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA)) to self, staff and patients.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after each procedure.
  • Inspects and calibrates equipment accordingly for proper operation and records the quality control (QC) results, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.


COMPLIANCE

  • Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
  • Performs quality CT examinations in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.
  • Prepares, administers, and documents medications and contrast media in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Retains certification and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation and licensure requirements.


EDUCATION:

Other: Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

CRT-Certified Radiologic Technologist

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

RHF-Radiology Fluoroscopy within 180 Days of hire if required at the affiliate

DEPARTMENT CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

SGMF - CVENI-Certified Venipuncture


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE

8 years recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Demonstrated specialized expertise in diagnostic computerized tomography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including significant experience responding to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and various hospital emergencies.

Proficient in performing CT examinations with an in-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious and potential abnormalities.

Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.

Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline

Broad knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS).

Prioritize and delegate assignments based on experience, procedures, policies, and best practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

Work autonomously, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.

Identify and analyze data to solve problems that arise with little or no precedent.

Analyze workflow/processes and propose improvements or solutions that improve the efficiency of the team

Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).

Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Pay Range is $80.83 to $101.03 / hour

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
