Job Description

Kindred Hospital Dallas Central and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) provide specialized care for patients with complex medical needs. Our long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) offers advanced, hospital-level treatment for chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended stays. In addition, our Acute Rehabilitation Unit is dedicated to helping patients recover from the effects of acute injuries, impairments, or illnesses. With a focus on personalized care, both the LTACH and ARU collaborate with your physician to provide 24/7 clinical care, ensuring continuous support on your path to recovery.

Performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of CT scans.

Essential Functions

  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients of CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment, as necessary.
  • Schedule patients for procedures, assist with clerical functions.
  • Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
  • Load and operate power injections for contrast media administration.
  • Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for CT scans.
  • Adheres to protocol scan length to optimize patient dose.
  • Confirms patient position matches the selected scanning orientation parameters.
  • Utilizes Iso centering of the anatomy of interest to optimize dose.
  • Optimizes technical factors to minimize radiation exposure to the patient while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
  • Uses radiation shielding devices.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label.
  • Records patient dose and administration of contrast medication as per policy.
  • Document appropriate charging of procedures and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures if applicable.
  • Provide orientation and training for new CT technologists.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Must have good and regular attendance.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited institution in Medical Radiography and/or completed and passed an approved course in Computed Tomography.

Licenses/Certifications

  • ARRT certification/registration in Radiography R.T.(R) and/or computed tomography R.T.(CT) and meet qualification required by the state working in.
  • Current BLS certification.

Experience

  • One year of experience in diagnostic radiology or other imaging modality preferred.
