As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for patientsand ensure the safety and health of thepatientIn this role, you will provide safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment. You willbe responsible forcase cart management and ensuring compliance with departmental standards.Here, you will receive ample support,trainingand education, including knowledge ofoperatingthe latest,state-of-the-artprocessing equipment and sterilization tools and concepts

A caregiver in this position worksevenings from 2:30PM – 11:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly,wrappingand sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.

  • Providecase cartmanagement.

  • Perform case pull functions efficiently and accurately.

  • Demonstrateproper handling of equipment,instrumentationand chemicals.

  • Perform preventative maintenance.

  • Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process.

  • Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.

  • Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination,assemblyand high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentationin accordance withAAMI ST79 standards.

  • Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.

  • Performrecordkeepingfunctions within the electronic tracking system, including processing,sterilizationand quality assurance documentation.

  • Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • HighSchoolDiploma or GED

  • Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) isrequiredwithin18 monthsafter hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership

  • Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads and other tasks

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly

  • Pre-admission testing experience

  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR),AircraftMaintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
  • Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
