This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.

We are currently looking for a Event Coordinator (Special Events Coordinator) to join our team of committed professionals. This Summer position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Poplar location in Timmins.

Under the leadership of the Manager, Brand & Communications and/or the Regional Manager of Child, Youth & Family Development, the Special Events Coordinator is the YMCA ambassador for summer events, festivals, gatherings, and street teams, engaging future members and promoting YMCA services and programs. Special Events Coordinators are a fun face of the YMCA creating opportunities to engage community members after the event through follow-up, sales calls, and email writing.

START DATE:  As soon as possible
CONTRACT DURATION: 8 weeks

LOCATION: Poplar, Timmins ON

RATE OF PAY:  $18.96 per hour

HOURS:  35 per week

What You'll Do:

▪ Actively promote the YMCA, its programming, and its current promotions at special events in the city
▪ Plan and coordinate schedules for events to attend
▪ Work with other departments for promotional material and coordinated approach
▪ Follow up with all prospective members and actively work to transfer prospects to members
▪ Contact leads created at special events through phone and email
▪ Actively engage members and build relationships
▪ Provide a welcoming environment for all who enter the facility and direct as appropriate
▪ Provide consistently prompt and courteous service
▪ Complete sales transactions with new and renewing members and program participants

What You'll Bring

• Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred
• Minimum of three (3) months of customer service or related experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR C an asset
• Bilingualism in both official languages an asset
• Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
