Debt Securities Operations forms a part of the wider Securities Operations and segregated by asset class, is responsible for ensuring all Bond/Repo trades booked by the front office flow through the various stages of the trade life cycle and settle successfully on the value date.

What you’ll do:

Perform routine tasks related to End-to-End servicing from trade capture, enrichment, validation and confirmation matching, cancellation and amendment are processed accurately and within the guidelines

Client Experience

  • Client adoption - working in partnership with internal stakeholders to develop, implement and optimize digitized client interactions. Maximize clients’ use of digital platforms.

Cost

  • Identify bottlenecks and existing inefficiencies through the use of available tooling.
  • Improve the efficiency of existing processes (e.g. increasing in Straight Through Processing).

Capacity

  • Involvement in process streamline initiatives.

Control

  • To ensure the escalation of all problems/risk issues within their area to the respective stakeholders and the appropriate levels of management.
  • Proactively anticipating and mitigating future risks which may impact on the Operations and/or Front-to-Back processes and controls through escalation. Ensure that all operational controls are observed and where the opportunity exists, improved to reduce overall risk exposure within the process.
  • Observe that all reporting requirements applicable to their role are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to the Group Privacy, Control and Compliance Policies, applicable to their role.
  • Adhere to the group requirement that each employee is aware of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with their role and to ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external governance, regulations and procedures that apply to the process and business.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • University degree in Business Administration or a related discipline
  • Work experience in Market operations is preferred though not necessary
  • Strong verbal and business English communication skills
  • Great sense of ownership and ability to work independently with good problem-solving skills
  • Considerable flexibility in working varying shifts to support global teams

  • Ability to draft clear, professional business correspondence, reports, and emails
  • Confident telephone and stakeholder communication skills
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply and share knowledge effectively
  • Strong numerical aptitude with the ability to interpret and analyze data

  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to build rapport with a wide range of people
  • High attention to detail and ability to stay focused when working with large volumes of data
