CSA Commercial Manager | Data Centres | Ireland
Some commercial roles are about reporting numbers. This one is about influencing them.
Kirby Group Engineering is looking for an experienced CSA Commercial Manager to support the successful delivery of a portfolio of large-scale data centre projects across Ireland. Rather than being tied to a single project, you'll take a broader view across multiple Civil, Structural and Architectural packages, helping to drive commercial performance, control risk, strengthen client relationships and support project teams in delivering exceptional outcomes.
This is a senior leadership position for a commercially astute construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and enjoys balancing strategic business objectives with day-to-day project delivery.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Commercial Lead, Operations teams, Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors, you'll provide commercial leadership across a range of data centre projects at differing stages of delivery.
You'll help shape commercial strategy, challenge project performance, support negotiations, oversee risk management and ensure robust commercial governance is embedded across the business unit.
The role offers the opportunity to work on some of Europe's most complex and technically demanding construction projects while developing and mentoring commercial teams and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commercial management of multiple CSA packages across a portfolio of data centre projects.
  • Drive commercial performance through effective cost control, forecasting, reporting and cashflow management.
  • Review and challenge project budgets, profit plans and financial reporting.
  • Support the implementation of the optimum commercial structure across the business unit.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and development to Quantity Surveyors and the wider commercial team.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers and Project Managers to ensure key commercial deliverables are achieved.
  • Review tender opportunities, carry out commercial evaluations and support contract negotiations.
  • Interpret contract obligations and advise project teams on commercial and contractual matters.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the management of change control, variations, compensation events and claims.
  • Support dispute resolution and final account negotiations where required.
  • Audit live projects to ensure commercial controls, governance procedures and reporting standards are maintained.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract administration and commercial performance.
  • Ensure subcontract agreements, letters of intent and purchase orders are correctly implemented before work commences.
  • Promote commercial awareness across operational, planning, engineering and support functions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key supply chain partners.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned reviews and commercial best practice across the business.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality procedures and information security requirements.
About You
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial leadership position.
  • Strong CSA construction experience within data centres, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial or large-scale construction projects.
  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts, commercial governance and risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects or project portfolios simultaneously.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence decision-making at all levels.
  • Experience reviewing complex commercial reports, forecasts and financial performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with operational, engineering and senior leadership teams.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline.
  • Strong leadership capability with a passion for developing and mentoring commercial professionals.
