Job Description

& Responsibilities

To perform all necessary sub-assembly, hydro-test, assembly functions to produce Cryodynamic pumps and expanders. Perform electrical testing on assembled pumps.

Responsibilities

  • Receives instructions from supervision.

  • Receives parts and sub-assemblies in work area.

  • Works from drawings, bills of material and assembly forms.

  • Assembles cryo machinery using specified assembly procedure and maintaining specified dimensions and clearances.

  • Records settings and initials forms.

  • Prepares unit for shipment.

  • Heats material for shrink fits.

  • Mounts couplings on shafts.

  • Logs and records replenishments, servicing, assembly diary, etc.

  • Uses hoist, unlimited pendant and overhead crane(s) as required, occasionally performs crane hooking

  • Maintains good housekeeping by keeping tools, material and equipment in proper place.

  • Reports production count, time and identifying data by use of data collecting machines.

  • Reports defective material and equipment to supervision.

  • Observes all safety rules.

  • Operates portable drill press to drill and tap bolt holes.

  • Heats and/or freezes parts or material for assembly, as required.

  • Disassembles cryo apparatus, locates trouble or malfunctions and checks various parts for damage as indicated on section report.

  • Operates riding work saver as required.

  • Operates fire protection equipment.

  • Grinds burrs from material as needed for assembly.

  • Bluing checks for hubs, bearings, splits, etc.

  • Electrical tests on assembled pumps per drawing and ITP requirements and conducts any special tests as required.

  • Prepares pumps and expanders for hydro testing by assembling and aligning components, installing gaskets, installing O-rings, installing studs, and tightens studs to a specified torque.

  • Hydro test pumps and expanders using various test pressures and procedures.

  • Remove bearing liners and replace as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able and willing to work 1st (7am-3pm), 2nd (3pm-11pm) and 3rd (11pm-7am) shifts. Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to shift realignment.

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
