About the Role

Markets Shared Controls Group (MSCG) is an essential part of the Risk and Control team within the Chief Operating Office (COO) of Citi Global Markets.

As a Cross-disciplinary Controls Sr. Analyst, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a robust internal control environment. Your work will directly contribute to the overall performance and effectiveness of the business by ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. • Conduct independent, comprehensive reviews and oversee the ongoing monitoring and effectiveness testing of controls. This includes designing and/or reviewing testing procedures, formally assessing control success against established thresholds, and ensuring a strong internal control environment.
  • Proactively identify emerging risks and control gaps, escalate any weaknesses to risk management partners, and drive the issue management process from root cause analysis through to timely remediation.
  • Manage and support control reviews, audits, and compliance assurance activities from all lines of defense, including supporting the business on Manager's Control Assessment (MCA) requirements.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, with a strong focus on safeguarding Citigroup's reputation, its clients, and its assets.

Process Improvement & Strategy:

  • Actively focus on process improvement, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, and streamline processes to create efficiencies.
  • Conduct fit-for-purpose reviews on the design and operating effectiveness of controls, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and documentation.
  • Partner with control execution teams to build and maintain a strong internal control environment through self-identification of issues and sharing of best practices.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Partner with teams on all new or modified processes to ensure they are designed and implemented with appropriate and sufficient controls.
  • Support production teams in managing Issues and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) by developing sound remediation plans and ensuring adequate documentation.
  • Lead and/or participate in meetings and forums to provide control-related updates and learn about new initiatives.
  • Contribute to building a positive risk culture and a strong controls mindset across the wider team.
