The primary responsibility of the Crop Insurance Agent Trainee is to learn and assist in the sales and servicing of all types of crop insurance coverage. Under the guidance of experienced team members, the Crop Insurance Agent Trainee develops strong relationships with industry contacts, the Association's team throughout the service territory, and customers. The Crop Insurance Agent Trainee gains knowledge of crop insurance products, agriculture, and risk management solutions to provide value-added information and customized service that meets customers' individual needs. This position is designed to prepare the incumbent for advancement into a Crop Insurance Agent role through training, mentoring, and hands-on experience.

Required Qualifications

• Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, finance, or a related field.

• Two years of business experience or sales of agricultural products or financial services.

• Demonstrated interest in agriculture, crop insurance, sales, customer service, or financial services.

• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued Property and Casualty Insurance License within a specified timeframe.

• Willingness and ability to learn crop insurance products, services, underwriting guidelines, policies, procedures, and applicable insurance laws and regulations.

• Ability to develop knowledge of Association products, services, fees, and their application to customers' needs.

• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Association's service territory via automobile to carry out the essential responsibilities of the position.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers, team members, and industry professionals.

• Willingness and ability to develop an understanding of agricultural production practices, economic factors, and technology affecting agriculture in the region.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment, learn decision-making skills, and seek guidance when appropriate.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team while receiving coaching and direction from supervisors and mentors.

• Proficient computer skills and willingness and ability to learn crop insurance software, processes, and related technologies.

• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships and provide a positive customer experience.

• Contributes to building and maintaining a positive team atmosphere.

• Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in agriculture, farming operations, customer service, sales, insurance, banking, or a related field.

• Knowledge of agricultural production and farming practices in Southwest Georgia.

• Property and Casualty Insurance License or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
