POSITION SPECIFICS
Title: CRNA (full-time)
FTE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Holiday Rotation: None
Weekend Rotation: None
On Call Requirements: 1 of 12 weekends. Rotating weekday and holiday call
Responsible for providing anesthesia services by administering anesthetic agents/drugs and/or related procedures in order to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic or surgical procedures. May include labor analgesia, acute/chronic pain management, respiratory consultation and support, and intervention during emergency situations in addition to rendering patients insensible to pain during surgery procedures.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a pre-anesthetic assessment of patient; order pre-op fluids or medications; obtain informed consent; and document findings.
Develop an anesthetic plan of care tailored to each patient.
Implement planned anesthetic plan for surgery patients (regional, general, IV sedation, etc.).
Manage fluid therapy and drug therapy to maintain physiological homeostasis and to correct abnormal responses to anesthesia/surgery.
Select, apply, and interpret non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities.
Manage patients' airway and pulmonary status using advanced airway modalities including but not limited to; intubation, mechanical ventilation, drug prescription.
Manage emergence and recovery from anesthesia, including preventing and managing complications and pain relief.
Release patients from post-anesthesia recovery and provide follow-up evaluation
Plan, implement and evaluate pain relief therapy including post-op and labor analgesia.
Respond to emergency situations with airway management and other ACLS techniques.
Provide in-service education to other staff regarding anesthesia techniques and procedures.
Demonstrates effective communication skills with coworkers, physicians, patients and patients' family members.
Adheres to Surgery Department Code of Ethics as it pertains to other team members.
Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Treats all patients equally, with compassion and without regard to medical condition, social status, or race.
Protects patients' rights, including maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information about patients and others.
Participates in continuing education through in-services and other programs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Master’s Degree if graduated after 1997)

Experience:
Required: 2 years of critical care nursing experience.

Licenses and Registrations:
Required: State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license. Registration with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) within 3 months of hire.
Preferred: None
Certification(s):
Required: Basic Life Support (within 3 months of hire), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with 6 months of hire, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) with 1 year of hire. Current certification by National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
