Job Description
Butcher Power Products is seeking a CRM Controller to bring financial discipline and data integrity to how we manage sales as we scale. This role is intentionally structured outside the sales organization, reporting into Finance & Accounting rather than Sales, so it can function as an independent check and balance on CRM data quality, pipeline integrity, and the financial implications of new business.
The role has two connected mandates. First, it owns CRM data quality standards, governance, and scorecards so leadership can trust what the CRM says about pipeline and forecast. Second, it adds a financial control layer: performing front-end cost analysis on new sales as they enter the pipeline so Finance has early, reliable inputs for cash flow projections. As BPP formalizes its sales operating rhythm, this position also lays groundwork for broader compliance and integrity practices across the commercial organization.
Key Responsibilities:
CRM Data Quality, Governance & Compliance:
· Own CRM data quality standards, definitions, and governance across the sales organization, ensuring records are consistent, accurate, and complete.
· Design and implement data quality expectation programs and scorecards that measure adherence to CRM and process standards across the sales organization.
· Audit CRM usage, pipeline data, and forecast inputs for accuracy and completeness, flagging gaps or inconsistencies without owning the underlying deals.
· Build and maintain reporting standards, dashboards, and data validation processes that give leadership accurate visibility into pipeline and sales activity.
· Establish and document a consistent, repeatable sales data operating rhythm (lead intake, opportunity stages, data entry requirements) and monitor adherence across the team.
· Hold recurring 1:1 meetings with individual sales staff to review their CRM pipelines for updates, accuracy, and completeness.
· Guide and support sales team members in understanding and gathering the documentation required to keep pipeline and deal records complete, providing ongoing training and clarification to ensure consistent compliance across departmental processes.
· Identify and flag compliance-relevant gaps in sales data handling and process discipline, laying groundwork for future integrity and compliance standards across the commercial function.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
· Establish and communicate clear compliance expectations for the team, monitoring adherence to internal controls, accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, ASC 606/842), and company policy — while coaching staff through corrective action when gaps are identified.
· Support the accounting team in maintaining compliance with internal control frameworks and financial reporting standards by reviewing transactions for accuracy, flagging policy deviations, and providing hands-on guidance during month-end close and audit preparation.
Customer Onboarding:
· Own the new-customer onboarding process, including gathering required documentation, completing vendor applications where BPP is set up as a vendor for the new customer, and confirming compliance, to ensure a clean handoff to Accounting, Project Operations, and Project Management.
Financial Analysis & Cash Flow Support:
· Perform front-end cost analysis on new sales as they enter the pipeline, assessing cost exposure, timing, and margin profile before the deal reaches Finance. [Cost and margin analysis scope pending confirmation with Max and Tracy — may be phased in as a future-state responsibility.]
· Translate pipeline and new-sale data into structured inputs for Finance's cash flow projections, giving early visibility into upcoming cost and cash requirements.
· Flag deals with unusual cost, timing, or margin characteristics that could materially affect near-term cash flow, escalating to the VP of Accounting as needed.
· Maintain a repeatable methodology for pipeline-to-cash analysis, refining it as deal types and volume evolve with company growth.
Process & Systems Improvement:
· Build out SOPs, standard processes, and recommendations for system improvements that strengthen the sales-to-accounting data pipeline and support the department's growing scale.
Cross-Functional Partnership:
· Partner with Sales, Finance, and Operations to resolve data and process gaps that affect reporting integrity or cash flow accuracy.
· Partner closely with Quotations and Sales Engineers on new opportunities, since accurate front-end cost analysis depends on the technical and pricing detail they generate during the quoting process.
· Collaborate with SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) to align pipeline and forecast data with broader demand and operations planning.
· Collaborate with CRM implementation consultants on system configuration, data structure, and process design as the CRM environment evolves.
· Hold the sales team accountable to data and process standards without direct managerial authority over them, relying on influence, documentation, and escalation.
· Support Investor/PE partner and parent company (Panelmatic) reporting needs by ensuring pipeline and cost data underlying investor reporting is accurate and defensible.
Qualifications:
Required:
· 5+ years of experience spanning sales operations, revenue operations, or CRM/data governance, with meaningful exposure to financial analysis, FP&A, or cost/margin analysis — ideally within a B2B or technical sales environment.
· Strong hands-on experience with CRM systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales experience strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to build and enforce data governance standards, audit processes, and reporting frameworks.
· Working knowledge of cost analysis, margin analysis, or cash flow/working capital concepts sufficient to translate pipeline data into financial planning inputs.
· Comfortable working independently in a fast-growth environment where process and standards are still being built.
· Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to hold a sales team accountable to data and process standards without direct managerial authority over them.
· Detail-oriented, analytical, and process-minded, with a strong sense of data integrity and financial accuracy.
· Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate complex sales opportunities and assess their impact on cost structure, margin performance, cash flow, and project timelines. Must be able to identify risks, interpret detailed financial and operational data, and translate findings into actionable insights that support sound business decisions and accurate forecasting.
Preferred:
· Experience in a controllership, FP&A, or accounting function, particularly one that interfaces with sales or revenue data.
· Experience with sales compliance, audit, or ethics functions, or exposure to building out such a function.
· Experience with technical, project-based B2B sales environments, such as industrial manufacturing, electrical equipment, or construction.
· Experience supporting private equity-backed or investor-reporting environments where data accuracy and reporting integrity are closely scrutinized.
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or data analytics preferred.
