Job Description

Join DayOne – Shaping the Future of Data Infrastructure

DayOne is a global leader in the development and operation of high-performance data centers. As one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, we’ve built a robust presence across Asia and Europe — and we’re just getting started.

As we expand into new international markets, we’re looking for talented, driven individuals to join us on this exciting journey. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be a key contributor to our dynamic team and help shape the future of global data infrastructure.

If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne’s next chapter.

Location: Lahti, Kiveriö

About the Role

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, on a former industrial site in Kiveriö. The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling. Join the Lahti team early and help shape how a campus of this scale is built, commissioned, and run.

As a Critical Services Manager, you are responsible for overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Management System (BMS) engineering teams, as well as managing the 24/7 shift team to ensure uninterrupted operations of the data centre.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

Leadership and Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the mechanical, electrical, and BMS engineering teams to support high performance and professional growth.
  • Oversee the 24/7 shift team, ensuring effective communication and coordination to maintain continuous operations.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all critical systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, generators, UPS, and BMS.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and emergency response.
  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.

SLA Compliance

  • Ensure all operations and maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with SLAs.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance and performance.
  • Address and resolve issues that could impact SLA compliance.

Project Management

  • Manage and oversee critical infrastructure projects, including upgrades, expansions, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all operations adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and drills to support team readiness for emergency situations.
  • Maintain documentation and records in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the budget for the critical services department.
  • Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.

Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and process enhancements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and technologies to support the adoption of best practices.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in data centre operations or a similar critical infrastructure environment, including experience in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, generators, UPS, and BMS.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented approach with a collaborative working style.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is considered an advantage.

Why Join DayOne?

  • Be a part of a company scaling fast in a booming industry.
  • Work on an international stage with global leaders.
  • Shape your career in a culture that values curiosity, agility, and bold thinking.
