Principal Critical Facility Architect provides technical leadership in design, development and implementation of backup power systems, comm rooms, data/control centers and alarm system deliverables. Primary role is electrical design of power systems within PG&E facilities, thus a State of California Registered Profession Electrical Engineer is required. This includes electrical design at data centers, comm rooms in offices and service centers and mountain top comm locations. As well as primary power design this position also handles backup power including generators, backup batteries and 48 VDC power plant. Lastly the critical facility architect will manage building upgrades/replacements for IT operated facilities. Henceforth the primary power plants, backup power plants, and building infrastructure will be referred to a “power systems”.
Provides budgetary estimates for power systems for client and IT projects, works with other architect teams to ensure power systems meet operational needs. Works with corporate real estate and land agents on site selection, specifying IT power needs in shared facilities. Sets technical direction and operational feasibility of power system solutions that are part of IT network architecture and services standards, to meet clearly defined technical performance requirements. Evaluates the need for new power solutions, collaborates with the architect teams to create prototypes and standards. Acts as technical lead for critical facility team, engineering team and project management teams implementing projects within the critical facility programs and client projects. All employees are responsible for performing their jobs in accordance with PG&E’s vision and values.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and an office within the service territory to be determined approximately 2 days per week based on business needs or company requirements.
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity,specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $155,000 - $210,000. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
