What this job involves:
As the Critical Environment Chief Engineer, you will serve as JLL's senior technical leader and subject matter expert for mission-critical facilities operations. In this strategic role, you'll provide advanced engineering leadership and comprehensive technical direction to ensure maximum uptime and operational excellence across critical infrastructure. You'll drive innovation, mentor engineering teams, and serve as the primary technical authority for all critical environment engineering decisions. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of critical facilities management while working with cutting-edge technologies and leading complex infrastructure initiatives that directly support JLL's commitment to delivering world-class facility operations.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Develop and implement comprehensive technical strategies for critical infrastructure systems, serving as the primary technical authority for all engineering decisions and establishing standards across operations
Oversee all critical infrastructure systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, precision cooling, and power distribution while leading complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to regional engineering managers and lead engineers, developing advanced training programs and fostering a culture of technical excellence
Serve as senior technical advisor to clients and C-level executives, managing relationships with critical system OEMs and coordinating technical aspects of vendor contracts and service agreements
Lead strategic capital planning for major critical system investments, overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects and developing technical specifications for major procurements
Ensure all critical systems exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements, leading technical compliance audits and implementing comprehensive safety protocols
Research and evaluate cutting-edge critical facilities technologies, driving digital transformation initiatives and championing sustainability and energy efficiency improvements
Required Qualifications:
15+ years of progressive experience in critical facilities/data center engineering with 5+ years in senior technical leadership roles
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
Expert-level knowledge of all critical infrastructure systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling, and power distribution
Proven track record leading large-scale technical teams and complex infrastructure projects
Advanced expertise in building automation systems, DCIM platforms, and critical system monitoring
Strong business acumen with experience in strategic planning and budget management
Ability to travel up to 30% for technical oversight, vendor meetings, and industry events
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering, MBA, or related advanced degree
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Advanced critical facilities certifications (DCCA, CEM, etc.)
Experience with major critical system OEMs and cutting-edge technologies
Track record of successful technology innovation and implementation
Industry recognition through publications, presentations, or leadership roles
