About the Role:

The Critical Asset Specialist is responsible for the expert management and optimisation of CDC’s critical infrastructure asset portfolio. This role applies advanced technical knowledge of data centre electrical and mechanical systems, understanding how assets operate and interact to influence reliability, compliance, and lifecycle performance.

A core function of the role is interpreting detailed electrical and mechanical single-line diagrams, validating asset configurations, and ensuring maintenance strategies accurately reflect real system behaviour. The Specialist maintains technically accurate, complete, and risk‑aligned asset information within the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS).

By combining deep system expertise with strong analytical capability, the Specialist delivers high‑quality asset data, optimised maintenance plans, and meaningful insights that strengthen operational resilience and long‑term infrastructure reliability.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Manage and deliver complex electrical, communications, and technology projects across operational environments.
  • Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and delivery.
  • Plan, manage, and commission infrastructure involving power systems, fire services, HVAC, and other building services.
  • Drive structured project planning, risk management, and mitigation strategies to minimise operational disruption.
  • Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee compliance, documentation, testing, certification, and as‑built handover requirements.
  • Ensure smooth operational transition in partnership with site and data centre operations teams.
  • Lead stakeholder communication, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and issues.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather requirements, align priorities, and resolve challenges.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability across all project activities.

About you:

This role would be suitable for a candidate who is detail‑focused and technically minded, with experience working in data centres or other critical infrastructure environments. You’re comfortable navigating complex electrical and mechanical systems, interpreting technical information, and using asset management or maintenance systems to keep data accurate and reliable.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability, able to interpret complex technical information and turn it into clear insights.
  • Highly organised and proactive, managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Clear communicator who builds effective relationships across engineering, operations, IT, and external partners.
  • Works independently or collaboratively, taking ownership and seeking opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and asset reliability.

Essential:

Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
