Located in the state-of-the-art building on the DuPage County Campus in Wheaton, Crisis Services provides 24/7 crisis mental health services to county residents experiencing mental health or substance use crises. The Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) is the critical next step in DuPage County Health Department’s decades-long journey to build the infrastructure needed to support a best-in-class behavioral health system and ensures all DuPage County residents will have “someone to contact, someone to respond, and a safe place to get help” when experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. The CRC will help residents de-escalate, stabilize, and connect to community resources catered to their individual mental health and substance use treatment needs. The building design and operations will ensure individuals and their families feel welcome, respected, and secure throughout every step of their care. The CRC serves as an alternative to hospital emergency departments and simplifies access to crisis care for all individuals, families, and first responders. -The flat on-call rate for this position is $39 per hour.
Completion of either an Associate’s degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and two years of nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training, and experience.
Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Illinois, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and previous crisis psychiatric nursing and substance use/withdrawal management nursing experience preferred.
Good knowledge of practices and principles of nursing within psychiatric and substance use populations; good knowledge of relevant social and economic factors influencing client behavior; good knowledge of local health resources; good knowledge of medical records preparation and maintenance techniques. Working skill in instructing others in treatments and practices; working skill in maintaining medical documentation; working skill in delegating and assigning work to others; working skill in analyzing client needs; working skill in verbal and written communication; working skill in developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with internal and external customers; working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment.

Clients wishing to make an appointment can call (630) 682-7400. The Health Department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some clinics holding evening and weekend hours.
The Health Department also provides 24 hour support for mental health emergencies through our Crisis Intervention Unit. Individuals in need can contact the Crisis Intervention Unit at any time at (630) 627-1700.
