You can make your mark by managing the full crewing process for assigned vessels and regions, ensuring qualified crew are appointed on time and within budget. In this role, you will help strengthen crewing services by supporting recruitment, training, appraisal, and compliance processes, while acting as a key point of contact for crew and internal stakeholders. You will also contribute to client satisfaction, support crew localisation programmes, work closely with crewing agencies, and help improve crewing operations through audits, system implementation, and the further development of crewing services.

You will work at the Boskalis office in Abu Dhabi while managing vessels owned by Smit Lamnalco, part of the Boskalis group. Smit Lamnalco provides tailored marine services to customers around the world, combining expertise, teamwork, and a strong focus on delivering reliable support in every environment.

Your responsibilities as a Crewing Officer

• Manage the end-to-end crewing process for assigned vessels and regions, including recruitment, selection, appointment, contracting, and timely crew deployment.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant STCW, flag state, port state, ISM, and customer requirements, including agency oversight and participation in audits.
• Coordinate crew training, development, and appraisal processes, and make recommendations for promotions and further development.
• Act as a key contact for crew and support internal stakeholders in resolving crewing matters and improving service delivery.
• Support the continuous improvement of crewing operations through stakeholder engagement, crew localisation programmes, Shipmate implementation, and collaboration with the Crewing Managers.

Your qualities

You can make your mark as a Crewing Officer if you have:

• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant field.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience, ideally within the maritime industry.
• Solid knowledge of crewing, logistics procedures, and operational processes.
• Good understanding of STCW, flag state, and port state legislation.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and a proactive approach to safe and compliant working practices.

• Your team: You will be part of the Smit Lamnalco crewing team based in Abu Dhabi.
• Full/part-time job: The position of Crewing Officer is a full-time job.
