Estimated Hiring Salary: $42,233.00 - $43,922.00 Full Salary Range $41,600.00 - $59,734.00. Annually

Work Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 6:15 am -4:45 pm

*This position will be required to serve on an on-call rotation and work in inclement weather conditions*.

The Water Resources Department provides essential water and wastewater services to Greensboro residents, businesses, and the community. Our Operations teams maintain the City's extensive water distribution and sanitary sewer systems, performing preventative maintenance and responding to emergencies to help protect public health, the environment, and the reliability of critical infrastructure.

About the Role:

As a Crew Member (Combo Truck Helper), you will assist the operator of a sewer cleaning truck used for preventative and emergency maintenance of the City's sanitary sewer system. This position plays an important role in keeping sewer infrastructure functioning properly and responding quickly to operational needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the operator with preventative and emergency sanitary sewer maintenance.
  • Serving as the operator when the primary operator is absent.
  • Supporting daily sewer cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Assisting with the completion of daily work logs, sanitary sewer overflow reports, and other required documentation.
  • Following established safety procedures while performing field operations.
  • Working safely in a variety of outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Performing physical tasks that include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, and stooping.
  • Participating in a regular on-call rotation to support after-hours and emergency maintenance needs.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable working outdoors in physically demanding conditions. Strong teamwork and the ability to follow instructions and accurately complete required documentation are important to success in this role. This position is NON-EXEMPT under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
    • "OR" an equivalency of 3 years of education " and" 3 years of directly related experience in a construction environment
  • Valid Class B Driver's License w/ tanker endorsement
  • Directly related commercial truck experience preferably in sewer cleaning, preventative and emergency maintenance.
  • Experience with heavy lifting in an outdoor construction and maintenance environment

An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • NC AWWA Grade 1 or Higher Collections Certification
  • Experience Operating a Sewer Combo Cleaning Truck
