Job Description

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Part-Time Crematory Operator to join our team at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens in Ft. Myers, FL At NorthStar, it is our sacred duty to honor the dignity of those entrusted to our care. Our Crematory Professionals are part of a compassionate team dedicated to upholding the highest standards of respect, professionalism, and service for the deceased and the families we serve.



The Crematory Operator is responsible for the safe and respectful operation of cremation equipment and the handling of human remains in accordance with Florida laws, regulations, and company policies.


Responsibilities

  • Operate cremation equipment safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure the crematory facility and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and in safe working order.
  • Clean and prepare the cremation chamber following each cremation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all crematory operating procedures.
  • Verify that all required NorthStar and applicable state documentation is complete and accurate prior to cremation.
  • Review cremation authorizations, permits, and related documentation for completeness and compliance.
  • Maintain positive identification of the deceased throughout every step of the cremation process by following company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate crematory logs, service records, maintenance records, and any other documentation required by state regulations and facility permits.
  • Prepare cremated remains for final disposition, ensuring they are placed in the correct container and properly identified.
  • Handle all human remains with the utmost dignity, respect, and care.
  • Ensure every cremation is performed in accordance with NorthStar's strict operational standards and all applicable laws.
  • Collaborate with funeral home, cemetery, and operations team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of services.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work primarily in a crematory environment where temperatures may fluctuate due to operating conditions.
  • Previous crematory, funeral service, or cemetery experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize potential issues, exercise sound judgment, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle decedents and equipment in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and respect in all aspects of the role.
