Purpose of the role
To manage and optimise the bank's overall credit risk exposure by monitoring, analysing, and reporting on the creditworthiness of its lending portfolio.

Join us as a Credit Risk Portfolio Senior Analyst within Barclays where you will help shape the future of banking by monitoring and managing credit risk across lending products such as loans and credit cards. It focuses on determining customer eligibility through credit checks, supporting effective credit risk management, and producing high quality management information to track portfolio performance. Day to day, the role involves running SAS scripts, producing regular reporting and insight packs for senior management, and supporting decision making through accurate analysis. The position acts as a stepping stone into broader portfolio and credit risk management roles, offering exposure to data driven risk monitoring and governance activities.
To be successful as a Credit Risk Portfolio Analyst you will have:
• Degree or equivalent qualification with a strong analytical focus, ideally within a STEM, quantitative, or data driven discipline.
• Experience interrogating large data sets, identifying trends/risk/opportunities.
• Proven experience working as an analyst, with the ability to operate as a proactive self starter.
• Excellent problem solving skills, with strong numerical capability and a logical, structured approach to analysis.
• Experience using programming or analytical languages to run coding scripts and analyse, interpret, and validate data outputs.
Some other desirable skills may include:
• Experience querying and analysing data from relational databases using SAS/SQL, alongside strong knowledge of advanced Excel capabilities.
• Strong credit risk and financial analysis skills, with the ability to assess and interpret financial performance and risk indicators.
• Experience working within a Financial Services environment, with an understanding of regulated business contexts.
• Experience translating analysis into clear proposals.
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key colleagues and stakeholders.
This role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
