Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a first line of defense business line, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed for Citi’s institutional clients. ICM’s objective is to provide integrated end-to-end credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit across the enterprise. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (“ICM UW” or “UW”) provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic / material transaction reviews, and any necessary subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional business including Corporate Banking, Services, and Markets relationships.

ICM Credit Risk Analysts are responsible for a portfolio of Asia alternative asset managers, including hedge funds, private markets funds, family offices and proprietary trading firms, owning the Credit Risk Analysis for those relationships, and being responsible for the continuous monitoring of that portfolio. That includes the production of annual reviews, quarterly reviews, and the support of ad-hoc transactions and portfolio & industry reviews and stress testing, in partnership with Prime Services, Sales & Trading, Investor Client Management, Treasury & Trade Services, Legal, Compliance and Risk.

This AVP (C12) role offers exposure to some of the largest and most sophisticated alternative asset managers regionally. The successful candidate will develop expertise across alternative asset managers while evaluating a broad spectrum of capital markets products and financing solutions. The role requires strong analytical capability, independent credit judgment, effective stakeholder management, and a proactive approach to portfolio risk management.

In this role, you’re expected to:

Executes, aligned with global and regional strategies, all responsibilities regarding underwriting, including, but not limited to:

• Perform end-to-end credit underwriting and ongoing monitoring for a portfolio of Asia-based alternative asset managers, including hedge funds, private markets funds, family offices, and proprietary trading firms.
• Assess creditworthiness through rigorous financial, business, liquidity, leverage, and risk management analysis, forming independent credit opinions and risk ratings.
• Prepare high-quality credit approval memo, annual reviews, transaction approvals, and portfolio assessments to support informed credit decisions.
• Evaluate counterparty risk across Prime Brokerage, Repo, FX, Derivatives Clearing, OTC Derivatives, Fund Financing and other capital markets product.
• Monitor portfolio and industry developments, identify emerging risks, and proactively escalate concerns to senior stakeholders.
• Conduct client due diligence meetings and maintain effective relationships with senior client management and key internal partners.
• Partner with business, Legal, Compliance, and Independent Risk teams to ensure sound risk governance and consistent credit standards.
• Exercise independent credit judgment and provide balanced assessments of risk/return trade-offs in support of Citi's risk appetite and credit framework.

Risk Management Experience:

• Strong understanding of wholesale and counterparty credit risk principles and frameworks.
• Ability to assess financial strength, liquidity, leverage, and industry risks to form independent credit judgments.
• Experience evaluating financing structures, capital markets products, and associated risk mitigants.
• Proven ability to identify, monitor, and escalate emerging credit and portfolio risks.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate and influence risk decisions effectively.

Client Relationships / Business Partnership:

• Builds strong partnerships across business, risk, and control functions to support effective credit decision-making.
• Provides balanced, well-reasoned assessments of risk/reward trade-offs and delivers constructive challenge where appropriate.
• Effectively navigates organizational complexity and collaborates across regions and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
• Communicates clearly and influences stakeholders at all levels through strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

• 5–8 years of experience in credit risk, counterparty risk, underwriting, or a related institutional banking environment.
• Experience covering alternative asset managers with exposure to hedge funds, private markets funds, family offices, or proprietary trading firms preferred.
• Familiarity with exposure measurement, stress testing, and portfolio risk analysis is preferred.
• Knowledge of capital markets products, including Prime Brokerage, Repo, FX, Derivatives, Futures, and Fund Financing.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial statements, liquidity, leverage, and credit risks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline; CFA, FRM, CPA, or equivalent qualification is a plus.
