Job Description

The Credit Manager – Loan Against Property will oversee the end‑to‑end underwriting process, credit appraisal, and portfolio monitoring for property‑backed loans in the Ludhiana market. Reporting to the Head of Credit, you will ensure compliance with policy, optimize risk‑return, and mentor a team of analysts to achieve business targets.

  • Conduct comprehensive underwriting of loan‑against‑property applications, assessing borrower creditworthiness and collateral value.
  • Prepare and present credit proposals to the Credit Committee for approval.
  • Monitor and manage the existing loan portfolio, identifying early warning signals and taking corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to Kotak Mahindra Prime's credit policies, regulatory guidelines, and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, and operations teams to streamline loan processing and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with real‑estate agents, valuers, and other external partners.
  • Lead and coach a team of credit analysts, fostering continuous learning and performance improvement.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to recommend product enhancements.
  • Prepare periodic credit risk reports and present insights to senior management.
  • Drive initiatives for process automation and efficiency in the underwriting workflow.
  • MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably in loan‑against‑property or mortgage lending.
  • Strong knowledge of RBI regulations, property valuation, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Proven track record of managing a sizable loan portfolio with low delinquency rates.
  • Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and decision‑making skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Proficiency in credit underwriting software and MS Office suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi; knowledge of Punjabi is an advantage.
