Job Purpose

To manage and monitor the Northern Retail credit portfolio through the effective assessment, approval, administration, and ongoing review of credit facilities. The role is responsible for ensuring prudent credit risk management, supporting sustainable business growth, maintaining regulatory compliance, and providing sound credit recommendations in line with Nedbank's credit policies, risk appetite, and strategic objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the retail credit portfolio to ensure asset quality and adherence to approved risk parameters.
• Assess, analyse, and evaluate credit applications and make recommendations to the appropriate mandate holders.
• Conduct periodic credit reviews and monitor existing facilities to identify emerging risks.
• Identify, classify, and manage problem exposures in accordance with Bank of Namibia guidelines and internal policies.
• Validate customer information and ensure the completeness and accuracy of credit submissions.

• Partner with Retail Sales teams to facilitate quality lending and support business growth objectives.
• Recommend appropriate financing solutions based on client needs, affordability, risk assessments, and policy requirements.
• Provide professional credit risk advisory services to internal stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with all internal credit policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of credit policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Maintain a strong understanding of regulatory, legal, and industry developments impacting credit risk.

People Specification

Preferred Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum Experience Level

• Minimum five (5) years' banking experience in a credit risk or credit management environment, with at least two (2) years' experience exercising or supporting a delegated credit mandate and making credit recommendations within an approved lending framework.
• Demonstrated knowledge of credit principles, credit risk assessment methodologies, and financial statement analysis.
• Understanding of Basel requirements and credit risk management frameworks.
• Sound knowledge of Bank of Namibia regulations, directives, and supervisory requirements.
• Good understanding of the Namibian legal and regulatory environment as it relates to lending and credit risk.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant banking systems.
• Valid driver's licence.
