About Our Client

Our client is a mission-driven fintech platform providing flexible financing to small businesses in emerging markets. They use technology to make it faster, cheaper, and easier for entrepreneurs to access the capital they need to grow. Their first product is invoice financing, with a focus on the Philippines.

Theyre scaling rapidly and are looking for a sharp, curious, and creative Credit Lead to shape and scale their credit strategy in the Philippines.



As Credit Lead Philippines, youll own credit evaluation, portfolio risk management, and credit policy development. But more than that, youll play a key role in building our clients credit functiondesigning new frameworks, applying data creatively, and helping finance small businesses that traditional banks cant or wont serve.

This is not a credit operations roleits a strategy and design role for someone who has led underwriting innovation, worked with data and product teams, and thrives in an environment where frameworks are being created, not just followed.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Evaluation & Underwriting

  • Oversee credit assessments for SME borrowers based on financials, bank data, receivables, and buyer risk

  • Structure and present go/no-go recommendations clearly and concisely

  • Monitor exposure to invoice payers and evaluate buyer risk concentration

Credit Policy Design & Risk Monitoring

  • Design, refine, and test credit scorecards, approval workflows, and portfolio-level risk controls

  • Leverage data to improve underwriting accuracy and borrower segmentation

  • Lead portfolio reviews and monitor key risk metrics (PD, DPD buckets, LGD, concentration, etc.)

  • Collaborate on pricing, limit-setting, and risk tiering logic tied to real-world behavior and incentives

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Business Development to balance commercial needs with risk appetite

  • Work with Product and Tech teams to embed credit logic into automated processes and lending tools

  • Coordinate with Legal and Collections on remedies and enforcement

Leadership & Innovation

  • Mentor junior credit team members and build strong underwriting discipline

  • Provide thought leadership on credit innovation in SME lending and receivables finance

  • Contribute to market strategy and credit infrastructure development, especially as new products are built

What We're Looking For

Were looking for a credit leader whos excited to build. Youve worked in fintech or non-bank lending, understand the unique credit risks of SMEs, and know how to design credit policies that go beyond checkbox underwriting.

Youve built scorecards, segmented borrowers, used alternative data, and tested credit rules in partnership with data and product teams. You ask questions, challenge assumptions, and take ownership of designing risk strategies that enablenot blockresponsible growth.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in credit risk, lending operations, or underwritingpreferably in SME lending, trade finance, or fintech

  • Experience designing or refining credit policies in early-stage or innovative lending environments

  • Proven ability to build and iterate on scorecards, limit structures, or pricing tiers

  • Strong grasp of financial statement analysis and invoice-based lending principles

  • Familiarity with Philippine SMEs and local financial reporting practices

  • Comfort working with imperfect data and using it to make judgment-driven credit calls

  • Strong analytical and communication skillscan explain complex credit thinking simply

  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SQL, Python, or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Looker) is a plus

  • Passion for small business growth and financial inclusion
