The Credit Controller & Accounts Receivable Administrator is responsible for managing the sales ledger, ensuring timely collection of payments, maintaining accurate customer accounts, and supporting the wider finance team with administrative tasks. The role plays a key part in safeguarding cashflow, reducing financial risk, and delivering a high‑quality service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Location of role: Irish Waste, 94-96 Hillsborough Road, Carryduff, BT8 8HT


Key Responsibilities

Credit Control & Debt Management

  • Proactively chase overdue payments via telephone, email, and written communication in line with company policy.
  • Reduce aged debt and ensure improvement in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • Negotiate payment plans where appropriate to secure outstanding balances.
  • Assess new customer credit applications in accordance with Enva’s credit control procedures.
  • Set up customer credit accounts, conduct credit rating checks, and monitor ongoing credit limits to minimise financial risk.
  • Prepare and distribute regular aged debtor reports for management review.

Cash Receipts & Payment Allocation

  • Process and post daily incoming payments, ensuring accurate allocation to customer accounts.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any unallocated or misallocated payments.
  • Raise and process credit notes where required.
  • Maintain a clean, accurate and well‑controlled Accounts Receivable (AR) ledger.

Finance Administration & Support

  • Support the Finance team with general admin duties as required.
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve invoice queries, credit note requests, and account disputes.
  • Provide customer statements and respond to account enquiries efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with audit and compliance requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Full-time role based in Carryduff
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Unpaid lunchbreak
  • 28 days annual leave inclusive of public holidays




Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience

  • 2–3 years’ experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or a similar finance administration role.
  • Good knowledge of invoice processing, payment allocation and cash reconciliation.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong IT skills including MS Office (particularly Excel).
  • Experience using ERP/finance systems, specifically Sage, is desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to reconcile complex accounts and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Persistence, resilience and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and cash collection targets.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • AAT or CICM (Chartered Institute of Credit Management) qualifications are desirable but not essential.
