We are partnering with a well-established local organisation as they seek an experienced Credit Controller / Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their close-knit finance team in Belfast.
This is a standalone credit control position within a supportive wider finance environment. You will take full ownership of the end-to-end credit management function, from setting up payment structures to chasing aged debt and managing direct debit processes.

Supported by a wider team of finance colleagues who manage other areas of financial responsibility, you are the sole point of contact for all credit control issues and responsibilities. You will be responsible for undertaking the following duties:
- End-to-End Credit Management: Take overall responsibility for the credit control cycle, managing the debtors' ledger, establishing credit terms, chasing outstanding payments, and handling direct debits.
- Systems & Processes: Maintain accurate financial records daily using Sage 200 alongside automated credit software to issue statements and notices efficiently.
- Credit Assessment & Reporting: Conduct credit checks, evaluate customer creditworthiness, negotiate payment terms where appropriate, and generate aged debt reports for management.
- Ledger Care & Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts accurately, drawing on a sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, debtors, and creditors.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal departments to resolve billing queries swiftly and maintain positive working relationships.
- Legal Escalations: Prepare and submit small claims documentation when required, ensuring full compliance with legal guidelines.
- Any other reasonable duties
The Person
To be considered for the role, applicants must clearly demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Proven Experience: Practical experience managing a full credit control or accounts receivable function, with the confidence to manage day-to-day processes independently.

- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Sage 200 (or similar accounting software), proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and strong general IT skills.
- Legal Understanding: Practical knowledge of small claims processes and debt recovery filings.
- Communication & Negotiation: Strong interpersonal skills with a constructive, professional approach to customer negotiations and query resolution.
Why this role?
- Working Environment: Modern, collaborative office setting based on-site in Belfast.
- Seasonal Perks: Early Friday finishes during peak holiday periods, including the summer months and December.
- Health & Wellbeing: Comprehensive Private Medical Insurance cover.
- Financial Wellness: Confidential employee financial advice and support services.
