Job Description

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • To implement risk performance driven credit decision for the credit approval process.
  • To review & provide feedback to Product and Compliance Team to ensure practicality & feasibility of the implementation of credit policies / guidelines.
  • Manage proper credit evaluation of facility applications and completion of documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.

Business Performance and Management

  • Ensure policies and procedures are documented and adhered. Develop and finalise policies and procedures for new facilities.
  • Recommend and approve limits up to the appropriate delegated authority for retail bank.
  • Adhere to Group’s standards portfolio / bulk reviews for facilities against collateral.

People Management

  • Advise Personal Bankers and Relationship Managers on credit related issues.
  • Leading and motivating the Credit Approval team in order to achieve SLA targets.
  • Ensuring that the Credit Approval team keeps up to date with evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Overseeing the effective approval of credit facilities to minimise delinquency.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Update Business Rules and Internal Guidelines as per the latest MAS rulings.
  • Ensure compliance / adherence with credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Responsible for all credit perspective of retail facilities including ensuring compliance/ adherence with credit policies, guidelines and regulations, portfolio review.

Any other responsibilities/tasks as assigned by the Management from time to time.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Degree

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least 10 years experience in credit management

Technical/Functional skills

  • Strong knowledge in credit assessment
  • Strong knowledge of Retail Banking (Secured & Unsecured) credit facilities
  • Strong knowledge of Banking Systems
  • Strong knowledge of banking instruments, local banking laws and MAS guidelines
  • Strong knowledge of credit assessment methodology and MAS reporting

Personal Skills (Soft Competencies)

  • Analytical judgement for proper credit evaluation of facility applications in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Able to prioritize and multitask
  • Meticulous, accurate, independent and possess good problem solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
