We are seeking a highly motivated Credit Analyst I to join the credit and underwriting team at Equify Financial. This role is designed for an early-career professional seeking to build a long-term career in equipment finance, commercial lending, and construction-industry underwriting. They will support the underwriting, portfolio management, and credit administration functions by gathering financial information, analyzing borrower performance, reviewing collateral, preparing credit packages, and assisting senior analysts with ongoing portfolio monitoring. This is a fast-paced position that offers direct exposure to credit, operations, sales, collections, and senior leadership.

The ideal candidate is a motivated recent graduate or emerging credit professional with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business, who enjoys analyzing financial data, evaluating risk, and partnering with cross-functional teams to support sound lending decisions while developing expertise in equipment finance, construction lending, and commercial credit underwriting.

Key Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, bank statements, and borrowing requests to support credit underwriting and transaction structuring.
  • Prepare financial spreads, borrower cash flow analyses, credit memos, underwriting summaries, and portfolio management reports.
  • Review collateral schedules, equipment valuations, UCC filings, background checks, and other due diligence items required to support credit decisions.
  • Prepare written credit memos utilizing the Six C’s of Credit for commercial, construction, transportation, and other industrial entities.
  • Support annual reviews, portfolio renewals, and ongoing borrower monitoring activities, including covenant compliance and risk rating updates.
  • Collaborate with internal departments including sales, documentation, funding, and accounting to support transaction closing.
  • Generate and explain standard financial ratios used in credit evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate records within internal systems while supporting reporting, data integrity, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of systems, processes, and procedures for custody or control of records, collateral, security, and other key business activities.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work independently and within a team.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Using logic and reasoning skills to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to business and credit decisions.
  • Must work well independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to safeguard confidential and protected information, familiarity with privacy law and company policy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial spreading tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in written work product.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field, required.
  • 0-3 years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in commercial banking, equipment finance, credit analysis, financial analysis, or public accounting is preferred.
  • Internship or rotational experience in commercial lending or equipment finance is preferred.
  • Understanding of financial statements and cash flow analysis is preferred.
  • Construction, equipment, industrial, and/or transportation industry exposure is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
  • Moves throughout the building to access files.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
