Position Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Customer Finance Credit & Collections, the Credit Adjudicator is responsible for the processing and adjudicating of all credit applications, including new and existing accounts, providing appropriate notification accordingly. The Credit Adjudicator will ensure that credit-granting decisions are based on factual reports and information that will provide for maximum sales potential while safeguarding the company from undue risks. The position holder is required to work with multiple internal business units and external customers and organizations to quickly execute a credit decision that meets the needs and requirements in a timely fashion.

This is a 9-month temporary position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing and adjudication of the consumer, commercial and farm credit applications. Duties will include obtaining appropriate reports, evaluating the reports, and making an appropriate informed business decision.
  • Analysis of the 4 C’s of credit (character, capital, capacity and conditions). Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality and prudence while gathering financial and/or private information including credit reporting agency information, registry offices, financial institutions, financial statements, suppliers, agents, field staff, family members etc. All information must be evaluated for accuracy and objectivity.
  • Conduct credit investigations by conducting a detailed analysis of financial statements; when necessary to expedite credit approval, the Credit Adjudicator will contact the customer direct to obtain financial and credit information.
  • Ensure notification of approval or decline will be sent to the customer; credit limit, risk code and other pertinent information will be recorded onto the customers file in SAP.
  • Process credit applications for building projects and liaise with financial institutions, leasing companies and internal UFA personnel to ensure contract is accurate and meets terms and conditions.
  • Review and follow up on requests to re-open existing accounts that have credit privileges suspended.
  • Uphold and maintain adherence to controls, standards, policies, and procedures internally.
  • Set up parent accounts for clients who have multiple accounts helping to ensure all credit limits are evaluated in the aggregate and information is easily available for future reviews.
  • Design and run queries as required by the Manager, Customer Finance and the Credit Department, as well as provide query reporting and analysis and be able to present results in a professional user-friendly format.

Qualifications:

  • Working towards a finance degree in business or a related discipline/CCP designation or a business diploma. Previous credit experience considered an asset.
  • Effective leadership, communication, negotiating, interpersonal and listening skills.
  • A self-starter, who is creative and innovative, has strong problem-solving skills, decision-making skills and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and under tight deadlines. Is adaptable in a changing environment.
  • Skillful in analyzing financial statements, with emphasis on the key business ratios used to determine liquidity, debt and performance.
  • Experience working with integrated computer systems including SAP and Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • An understanding and commitment to the value and strength of teamwork.
