The Credentialing Verification Specialist supports the credentialing and reappointment processes for clinical faculty and physicians affiliated with Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC), Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (GMH), MacNeal Hospital (MNH) and Loyola Physician Partners (CIN). This role is responsible for coordinating medical staff reappointments, maintaining practitioner records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing administrative support to the GMH Medical Staff Office.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable in credentialing, medical staff services, regulatory requirements, and database management.

What you’ll do:

Credentialing & Reappointment Support

  • Process medical staff reappointments through the Centralized Verification Office (CVO) for medical staff appointments for LUHS
  • Develop and maintain monthly practitioner reappointment profiles.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing reappointment correspondence following approval.
  • Run practitioner profiles and reports to support the reappointment process.
  • Track reappointment cycles and monitor credential expiration dates to ensure timely completion.
  • Perform data entry and record maintenance within the Medical Staff Office software

Medical Staff Database Management

  • Maintain accurate practitioner demographic and credentialing information in MSOW.
  • Update and monitor:
  • Professional licensure
  • Malpractice insurance coverage
  • Office and contact information
  • Medicare acknowledgements
  • Enter and maintain practitioner status changes, including resignations and appointments.
  • Prepare monthly resignation letters and process resignations in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Remove practitioners from continuous National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) monitoring when appropriate.

Compliance & Regulatory Reporting

  • Run monthly exclusion and compliance reports, including:
  • Office of Inspector General (OIG) exclusion checks
  • Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) verification reports
  • Assist with compliance activities required by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain accurate credentialing records to support audits, accreditation reviews, and regulatory inspections.

Medical Staff Office Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Medical Staff Office.
  • Assist with practitioner files and documentation management.
  • Respond to routine credentialing inquiries from physicians, clinical staff, and leadership.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need for this job: 

Minimum Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience
  • Preferred: Administrative or technical background acquired through 2-3 years of college
  • Minimum Experience:
  • Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
  • Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience

Compensation: 

Pay Range: $21.02 - $32.59 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
