Hosltly is a hospitality company managing hotels and villas in Zanzibar. We’re launching a behind-the-scenes short-form channel about building hospitality on the islands — real ops, people, and daily chaos. We’re looking for a local filmmaker, storyteller, or small creative agency to own the creative direction and production of this channel — bringing the story to life through cinematic visuals, humor, and real-life moments.
🧭 What You’ll Do
You’ll lead the creative side — from planning content to capturing authentic moments and shaping the story.
Key responsibilities:
• Develop and run the content strategy (weekly themes, storylines, and ideas that build continuity)
• Film and direct short-form and cinematic content that follows the three directors and their team
• Capture moments across hotel operations, staff life, island adventures, and business growth
• Edit and post-produce engaging clips for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts
• Manage posting schedule, captions, trends, and community engagement
• Pitch creative ideas, experiment with formats, and help evolve the style and tone of the channel
🎯 Who We’re Looking For
We want someone who:
• Has a strong eye for storytelling — can turn real moments into watchable stories
• Can film, edit, and direct (phone, mirrorless, or camera — whatever you work best with)
• Understands social media platforms and what performs well
• Is confident working around people, catching moments as they happen
• Takes initiative and thrives in creative freedom
• Ideally has experience with travel, lifestyle, or business content
• (Bonus) Has their own equipment or small team
• (Bonus) Has run or helped grow a social channel before
💡 Collaboration Style
We’re open-minded — this can be:
• A freelance or retainer partnership (monthly arrangement)
• A joint creative collaboration (shared ownership of the channel)
• A film school partnership or creative project with ongoing involvement
We want someone who genuinely wants to build something long-term, not just shoot and leave.

Ideally, you’re already on the island (Unguja) or willing to relocate.

We let other landlord's properties out on a short term basis (anything from 1 night to a few months), at a premium nightly rate, and therefore generating landlords more revenue than they would get through traditional single lets.
We take particular care in working with the landlords to create homes that have that special, yet homely feel.
