Job Description

Salary: £ 63,520 - 79,400 Per annum

Interviews: Week commencing 20th July

Contract Type: Permanent

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.  

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.  

These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.  

Where inWellcomewill I be working?

You'lljoin the Creative & Cultural Advocacy team within Corporate Affairs, working as part of a Solutions Matrix team focused on one ofWellcome'sstrategic priority areas,particularlyClimate & Health.

Working across multidisciplinary teams,you'llcollaborate closely with colleagues in Communications,Research,Policy & Partnerships,WellcomeCollectionand senior leaders across the organisation.You'llalsobuild relationships with leading creative and cultural organisations, artists, producers,commissionersand partnersacross the UK andinternationally to help deliverWellcome'sengagement and influencing ambitions.

What will I be doing?

As Creative & Cultural Advocacy Lead,you'lldevelop and lead ambitious programmes that use creativity and culture to build public support and inspire decision-makers totake actiononWellcome'sstrategic priorities.

You'lloversee programmes from strategy through to delivery;ensuring an effective portfolio of activities,embedding effectivedelivery,governance, evaluation,projectand risk management throughout.You'lllead multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver high-impact creative and cultural advocacy initiativesandevents, ensuring they are insight-led, strategicallyalignedand integrated with wider communications,policyand engagement activity.

You'llbuild andmaintaininfluential partnerships across the creative and cultural sectors,identifyinginnovative opportunities to engage audiences and amplify Wellcome's work through compelling cultural experiences andengagement programmes

You'llalso play a key leadership role within the Creative & Cultural Advocacy team by developing people, strengthening ways of working, contributing to teamstrategyand helping shape the future direction of Wellcome'screativeengagement activity.

Minimum Criteria:

  • Strong sector connectionsand significantexperience inleadingimpactful, collaborativecreative &cultural advocacysectorinitiativestobuild public support andemotionally engage decision makersandknowledge of innovative practice in this fieldparticularlyfor Climate & Health  

  • Strong experience of programme and line management– abilitytodevelop ambitiousprogrammesandeffectivelyperformancemanage, recruit,develop and motivate people to deliverthese. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to listen, establish rapport, credibility and collaborative relationships across multiple departments and at all levels – particularly senior leadership - acrossWellcomeand with external partners

  • Strong partnership development skills, able to identify, build and activate strategic partnerships to deliver – and stay on track with - Wellcome’s priorities, both internally and externally 

  • Diplomatic and politically savvy, ableto demonstrate leadership, hold accountability and demonstrate good judgement in managing internal and external reputational risk
