Job Description

Job Title: Cream Cheese Packager

Immediate Supervisor Production Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Packaging Operator is responsible for packaging product to meet customer & company requirements by following SOP’s.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow all Prairie Farms policies, procedures and protocols. Ensure safety, sanitation, GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality policies and packaging procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that packaging and labeling equipment is set up and in a sanitary state.
  • Immediately notify supervisor of all unsafe conditions or situations.
  • Stage correct packaging materials for scheduled production.
  • Prepare packaging material, fill, seal and palletize. Follow SOP’s for successful operation of CC filling & sealing equipment.
    • Insure proper package seal integrity by following appropriate SOP.
    • Notify dept. supervisor of all deviations that could result in product failure to meet required specs.
    • Insure correct & accurate labeling to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain the cream cheese packaging & sealing equipment and environment in an acceptable condition using good housekeeping practices and GMP’s in a safe and effective manner.
  • Accurately and correctly complete all required documentation.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous food packaging experience is preferred
  • Must have good reasoning ability to deal with problems involving variables in standard situations.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions.
  • Must demonstrate basic math skills and understand weights and measures.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate, understand, and write in the English language.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including some nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis. The employee must be able to push, pull, and move up to 100 pounds. The employee must be able to physically lift up to 50 pounds. All jobs require visual acuity to review written documentations; ability to hear and understand speech. At times there can be loud noise which may cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to heat/cold temperature changes.
