Job Description

The Regional Manager is responsible for the operational excellence and success within their specific region. Coaching, training, mentoring, inspiring, and managing the local staff is a vital aspect of this role. Responsible to drive the employee morale and company culture in the region. They are also responsible for managing, adhering, and enforcing Iron Heart’s best operational practices, operational procedures, quality control procedures, and high standard of operations in their region. The role will include a mixture of functions encompassing managing the region operationally and acting as lead operator for a canning operation.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with job scheduler and logistics to organize the region’s upcoming canning schedule.
  2. Responsible to schedule staff to effectively accomplish the canning schedule.
  3. Responsible for organizing the material and consumable logistics for each job on the region’s canning schedule, preparing for each job in advance.
  4. Accountable for the success of each canning line in the field every day, and full understanding of what is happening on the ground at each job:

- Proactive daily check into each operation active in the field after they have dialed-in

- Daily check-in with the head of operations to provide a status or any issues that need to be addressed.

- First line of contact for technical support or troubleshooting from each crew. Responsible for escalating to the divisional head, tech expert or head of operations as necessary.

- Weekly catch up with each operator

- Direct follow up with any operator who raises an operational or cleanliness issue via job report or other form of communication. If a canning line has a cleanliness or operational issue, it must be addressed prior to being sent to another job.

  1. Responsible for oversight and enforcement of all checklists:

- Equipment maintenance and cleaning list with enforceable targets

- Operational supply lists that must be maintained with each operation

- Operating toolbox list

- Backup parts lists that must be maintained with each operation

- Backup parts list that must be maintained at the company level

- Truck maintenance list, including cleaning and washing

  1. Generally responsible for ensuring the continual success and top-notch operational status of each machine and operation in the region
  2. Bi-weekly inspection of each operator/machine
  3. Review and approval of operator/assistant hours logged
  4. Responsible for coordinating with tech expert on walkthrough and onboarding procedures for all first-time customers

Requirements

Packaging Tech:

  1. Perform all functions related to acting as a Packaging Tech of a canning operation.
  2. Frequency - Any time there is a hole to be filled, the Regional Manager should schedule themselves until the position has been filled. This means the Regional Manager could be on the canning line every day some weeks, or less when set up at a sustainable pace. Additionally, the Regional Manager must attend to each new customer canning run.

Education and Experience:

  • Nitrogen certifications required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4-year college degree preferred but not required
  • One/two years of packing machine operator experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at job sites including loud noise, high and low temperatures and small working areas. Physical demands:

  • Ability to continuously stand or walk
  • Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to push/pull up to 800 pounds on wheels
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion functions in support of canning line operations
